Easy ways to give

Hey guys,

Here are 5 easy ways to give to charitable causes!

1. Vote for Riverside Humane Society at http://www.care2.com/animalsheltercontest/72911/?refer=19020.15.1232655862.946 Voting ends Jan. 31st, so please VOTE NOW! If they win they'll receive $10,000.

2. Go to www.theanimalrescuesite.com to click to give free dog food to animals in need. The sponsors pay, and it only takes a few seconds! Do it everyday, and it'll really add up.

3. Use goodsearch.com and pick the National MS Society Southern CA chapter as your charity. Ok, so you can pick any charity you want, including Circle K International, but I would really appreciate it if you donated to the MS Society & so would everyone else who has MS.

4. Participate in the Ralph's Community Contributions Program. Here are the instructions from the RHS website. It looks complicated, but its not!

When you sign up for this program, the Riverside Humane Society Pet Adoption Center receives a percentage of your eligible Ralphs Reward Card purchases – at no cost to you!
To register follow these steps:

1. Log on to www.ralphs.com
2. Scroll down to “Services” at the bottom of the page and click “School Programs”
3. Click “Learn More” under Community Contribution
4. Click “Enroll” under Participant
5. Sign in using your email address or Sign up for Ralphs Account a. Enter zip code and choose store b. Enter email address and create password c. Confirm information on file d. Click “Edit Community Contribution Program Information”
6. Enter Rewards Card # & “Save changes”
7. Confirm information & “Save changes”
8. Enter Riverside & click “Search”
9. Select Riverside Humane Society & “Save changes"
10. Click “Logout” at top of the “Account Details” page

5. If you use hotmail or MSN Messenger, they will contribute to the NMSS (National MS Society) if you opt into it everytime you send an e-mail or IM. I think it's in the options.

A Brand New Quarter

This will be last quarter as PR chair for CKI & my last quarter, here at UCR. I gotta say, the first day of winter quarter was a little strange for me. It felt like I was a new student all over again. I can't believe I'm actually GRADUATING!!! Yay! for me! I really want to end my time here at UCR with a bang, so I'm going to give it all I can in School, in CKI, and in Service. Speaking of service, my new schedule frees up a lot more time to do service, so I'm super happy about that. I can't wait to see my hours soar way up! I want to do tutoring, soup kitchen, and of course, the humane society, a cause that's near and dear to my heart. After all, I did find the love of my life there. I'm especially excited about getting more people involved with it. I'm thinking about going every Friday & Saturday. Lenny, for sure will be going on Saturdays and offering rides. Saturday is a great time for the club too because, it's also the day when there are trainings for dog & cat socialization. I'm looking forward to this quarter, and I hope you are too!

Tutoring at Longfellow

This Monday, I got to tutor at Longfellow. It was really fun. The kids are a lot smarter than people give them credit for. They know all the little tricks and secrets for getting around things in school. It's really cool working with the kids. Unfortunately, I can't make it every week because I ditched a class to go, but maybe next quarter....

Humane Society!!!!

Yayness! The Humane society volunteering is starting up, and I am so excited. This is a relatively new service project, so I can't wait to get it up and running. Lately I'm the only one that goes on Friday mornings, and it is oh so lonely. : ( RHS really relies on its' volunteers. It is so much fun, and I can't wait to share it with everyone else.

Setting this up for you guys doesn't even seem like work at all because I enjoy it so much! Now walking all over campus posting flyers is another story, but now that the PR Committee is starting up, that will be much easier. Divide & conquer! I'm so happy that so many people are willing to help me out, because between you and me, I am not that talented : ). We're going to get a lot of work done, but we're also going to have A LOT of FUN!

Today I turned in my check for FTC, and it hurt my pocketbook for sure, but I'm sure it'll be worth it. I've never been to FTC, but all I hear are good things, & I do not want to miss out on it, especially in my last year! I hope we get a lot of people to go, because the more people, the more fun! & I'll get to know a lot more new members!

Adios amigos!

TV Taping

Well, last night I went to see the tv taping of Roommates, my first ever. Wow! It was looong, but fun. I got to get a free shirt that says Hollywood USA. Shawn, Kendra, Alfred, Anna, and I all went, but only the girls got free stuff. : ) Anna got the same shirt as me, and Kendra got a signed copy of the Roommates script because it was her birthday the day before! Tamara Mowry was in the show, and she is soooo pretty in real life! We left Riverside at 3 pm and left the show at 10:20pm! My legs almost stopped working because we were sitting so long.

Afterwards, we ate hotdogs at the Famous Pink's on Hollywood & La Brea. Man, those things were BIG! I got a bacon chili cheese dog and it was yum-o! I didn't end up getting home until 3 am. What a long night... Kendra said we probably raised about $50 for the club, so yay! That's about it... Th...Th... That's All Folks!

Just Another Summer Day

Today I went with Steven to Longfellow Elementary to talk to the Principal and Assistant Principal about implementing a K-Kids Club, B.U.G., or Terrific Kids. She'd also like to have people tutor in their Heart program and maybe donate food to their food drive because they make boxes for the children from low-income families so they can eat over break. I am really excited about this project. Maybe even more than the Humane Society project.

Also, Kendra e-mailed me about going to a TV Taping for Rules of Engagement & seeing Heroes stars on the red carpet. Oh my gosh! That is going to be so cool! I can't wait, because I LOVE Heroes! The tv taping is tomorrow & the Heroes event is on the Sept. 7th, so there's some things for me to look forward to. I'll try to remember to post tomorrow to write about how the tv taping went.

Another thing that happened today is that I got a new foster dog! Yay! She's super tiny! She's a red-merle long-haired chihuahua. Apparently she's very rare, and has been bred for the first 6 years of her life, but now the breeder has given her up to the rescue so she can finally have a normal life. Hopefully she finds her forever home soon. Her name is Katie, and I put a link on my blog so you can check her out if you want. You can also go to pupsrescue.org to find a little bit more about her. She's a real sweetie. She's pottytrained, using potty pads and grass, so that's good news (for me, at least). : ) She'll probably go to the adoption show at PetSmart in San Bernardino if you're at all interested. Oh and the application is on pupsrescue.org or you can apply in person (which I recommend) at PetSmart in San Bernardino. I'll let you know for sure if she's going to be there or not this weekend.
